We just got back from an 8 day vacation back east. It’s always amazing how much everything grows during a week when you’re not watching it everyday! I spent some time today training tomato plants and thinning their leaves. It’s great coming home to some ripe tomatoes! (Cherry, Yellow Pear, and Early Girls) They all seem to have gotten much taller. The cucumbers have definitely grown this past week. I staked them up with sticks, also the peas in the middle of them. I also spent some time pulling weeds. Always fun stuff. All of the squash seeds I planted the day before we left have sprouted, and the potato plants seem to be growing like crazy. It’s great to be back and to see everything larger and taller!!
The Brussel Sprout plant in the middle of my tomatoes is really BIG and driving me a little crazy, so for dinner we had the leaves of the plant cooked like Collard greens. (Bacon, apple cider vinegar, salt) We also had lentils cooked with our onions and garlic, and pork chops. We still have LOTS of salad greens, so of course a salad, with our onions and tomatoes! It tasted good and healthy especially after some of the things we ate while traveling.
