It’s October! We’ve had some hot weather so it still feels like summer, but I know there are only weeks left of the season. Sad. We should get a few more weeks of fall in the greenhouse though. The tomatoes in the greenhouse made it until the middle of November last year, while the tomatoes in the outdoor planter lasted until about the third week of October. It’s already time to plant garlic bulbs and flower bulbs. Every year I don’t get around to planting as many flowers as I’d like. Maybe this fall!
Well, with the help of everyone we pulled off a wedding reception in the backyard last week! I thought I’d have a little more produce such as cucumbers for a cucumber and basil salad, but I had one cucumber! I went down to our local farmers market and was able to fill in the gaps. We at least had some of our homegrown produce in every dish, including the meat and fish. My sister did an amazing job decorating the cake including sage leaves, squash and cucumber flowers. It was beautiful. She also made some flower arrangements, adding red beet green leaves and more sage leaves. They were awesome!
